敦朱加基金会獲頒第28屆林連玉精神獎 Tun Jugah Foundation is given the 28th Lim Lian Geok Spirit Award

Datuk Amar Leonard Linggi Jugah ("Datuk Linggi") has over 36 years experience in the business and legal sectors, successfully building up strong networks with both Government and the private sector.
Having graduated from the University of Hull, Datuk Linggi qualified as a barrister, called to the High Court of Borneo in 1969.
Upon returning to Malaysia, he became the Deputy Public Prosecutor in the Sarawak Judicial Department from 1969 to 1971. Following this, he entered active politics and was elected as a member of the State Legislative Assembly. Since then, he has served in a variety of political roles including Minister in the Sarawak State Cabinet, Member of Parliament, appointee to the parliamentary Public Accounts Committee, Secretary General of Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu Sarawak.
As a Bumiputra entrepreneur, Datuk has also been involved in the Malaysian business sector, building up the Limar Group, a diversified group with interests in shipping, property, plantation and timber, of which he remains the Chairman. Datuk is also managing trustee of the Dayak Cultural Foundation and the Chairman of the Tun Jugah Foundation.

Among the objectives of the Tun Jugah Foundation are:
  • Primarily, to receive and administer funds for educational, medical, and charitable purposes, all for public welfare and for no other purposes;
  • To preserve and promote Iban culture, arts and language;
  • To conduct research, and to provide intellectual materials or education tools such as publications, for scholars and future generations;
  • To collect/record, transcribe, translate and interpret all forms of Iban folklore for study by contemporary scholars and future generations of Iban in particular;
  • To perpetuate the memory of the late Tun Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Temenggong Jugah anak Barieng.
  •  General Activities
  • Aside from the activities carried out by the various sections, the Foundation is also involved in organizing other activities together with the State Government or other organizations. Among the past general activities are as follows:
  • 1988 Iban Cultural Seminar, Kapit, 27 - 30 June
  • 1989 Hosted the First Extraordinary Meeting of the Borneo Research Council, Kuching Hilton, 4 - 9 August
  • 1993 Iban Cultural Seminar, Sri Aman, 27 - 28 June
  • 1998 Iban Cultural Seminar, Bintulu, 23 - 24 October
